Watched 881 yesterday and DAMN! I enjoyed it tremendously. I'd have given it a 5 out of 5 but I'm gonna give it a 4 instead.
Reasons for that missing 1 point :
- Too much of Hokkien phrases!
I'm totally fine with that because I'm 1/2 Hokkien and 1/2 Teochew and I understand most of what's going on in the movie. But what about our Malay and Indian friends??! Doesn't Royston care about them? Sure... There's the subtitles going on BUT it isn't the same as hearing it in Hokkien. ): I felt sad because the movie's pretty good and only some of us can enjoy it. Tsk!
2. Totally retarded scenes.
Seriously, what's up with the durian inspired bra? Well, okay, I'm quite fine with that but I just didn't like all those silly lights shooting out from the bra. Totally retarded and uncalled for.
And many other silly scenes like the dignity feather and the shooting of the ninja's darts. Really?!
But other than that, I just loved that movie. Whole jug of hilariousity and a whole box of tissues for the tear jerking scenes.
Go catch it!
The scene that totally hit me was the part where both the sworn sisters were sitting on the hospital bed, crying, hugging and singing their hokkien song while the camera circled them as we watched the sickly girl's hair become nonexistent as they fell away from her.
That scene was just so touching. I couldn't imagine if I lost both my best friends. I wouldn't know where I could possibly get the most honest and 'will-work' solutions.
